My First Sourdough Baking

November saw a lifetime-first for me! Baking with sourdough!

My sister Elsa has a lovely einkorn sourdough starter going, so all I had to do was grind some more, marveling at the floral design it made in the grinder.

Then add some starter and water, let it work for several hours, and roll out with a couple more ingredients.

The result: Sourdough Einkorn Biscuits to top my Chicken-n-Biscuits meal!

Time for Northern Lights, Wool Mittens, & Tea

November 12th, 2025 God gave us a special show filling half the dome of the sky!

Look closely in the green northern lights above to spot the Big Dipper low on the horizon!

The most color, including both green and red, was right over our trees as we looked back from down the road. Meanwhile, the lights danced wildly!

The Shepherd/King David got it right in Psalm 19:1:
"The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork."

It was chilly enough during the show that I was wearing my warm, wool mittens and drinking tea, just as when taking this picture on a later day. Yes, in November the only way to get some sunshine and fresh air up here includes plenty of wool!

Find these Nordic mittens and more of my sister's and my woolen designs at Heritage Woolen Co.

Wins!

Elsa made her first white buns in over a decade! The old bakery-skills remain.

While most were a gift for friends in their surgery week, we each got a taste along with my Autumn Soup one evening. Amazing treat!

I also finished our last slices of gluten free sourdough from Simple Kneads. No need to order that anymore!

And a huge win after years of getting my hair trimmed at home was to go back to the salon for a trim! Thanks so brain rewiring* with Jesus, there were no issues from chemical sensitivities this time!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Garden Produce in November

Amid hard frosts, lettuce throve in the cold-frame...

...and kale in the open air!

It was time for more kale chips as well as some dehydrated kale powder.

Meanwhile, the last of our squash were baked, plus some pumpkins from a friend. Lots of squash seeds were roasted and frozen for snacks, as well as these cinnamon-honey pumpkin seeds.

Time for a coffee break with whole milk!
