While it is nice to have a fox hunting our large populations of mice and rabbits, we are a bit nervous for our cat. Thankfully, she is very wary and often is the very picture of a "Scaredy-Cat." Yet even our timid little one has been giving us good laughs recently by repeatedly chasing away an overly-friendly stray cat. Picture a high-speed chase starting at our deck and not ending until the stray was exiting our property onto the road!
are the foxes dangerous to humans? do you have to stay in while its out prowling? i remember some years ago living in Surrey i came across foxes a few times and my terror always nearly shot my heart out of my mouth!
ReplyDeleteNo, our local foxes are too scared of humans to be a threat. So are the many coyotes which live in the swamps a mile or two from home, though I don't care to go outdoors when we hear a whole band of them yelping and screaming in or near our yard at night. The huge grey wolf that wanders through our county from time to time is more concerning, though I have not heard of any damage from it yet. Its paw print in the snowy road at the end of our driveway was a big as my large mitten!
